More Than a Bra: Why We Created the Hotmilk x Everyday Solitude Self Love Edition

More Than a Bra: Why We Created the Hotmilk x Everyday Solitude Self Love Edition

We've spent more than 20 years designing bras for bodies that change — through pregnancy, nursing, and the postpartum season that follows. More recently, with the launch of Evolve, we extended that commitment to every chapter beyond — because a woman's relationship with her body doesn't end when breastfeeding does.

But somewhere along the way, we noticed something our bras couldn't fix.

The way women speak to themselves. The quiet grief of feeling like a stranger in your own body. The identity shifts, the unmet needs, the hard conversations that go unasked — not because women don't want to have them, but because womanhood doesn't always make room for them.

That's why we created the Hotmilk x Everyday Solitude Self Love Edition.

The Numbers That Stopped Us in Our Tracks

When we started looking at the research, we understood why this mattered so urgently.

Only 2% of women globally describe themselves as beautiful. 40% would give up a year of their life for their ideal body. 2 in 3 feel pressure to be more physically attractive than the generation before them.

These aren't small numbers. They represent an epidemic of women who have learnt — consciously or not — to be at war with themselves.

We didn't want to just design for the outside of that story anymore.

Why We Approached Everyday Solitude

We approached Everyday Solitude because they understand something we believe deeply: that conversation is one of the most powerful tools we have for changing the way we see ourselves.

Everyday Solitude is a mental health initiative dedicated to reducing stigma through conversation. Their work is grounded in psychological research, and their commitment to making mental health accessible — not clinical, not intimidating, but human — aligned completely with what we wanted to create.

We didn't want to make something surface-level. We didn't want affirmations on cards or inspirational quotes. We wanted questions that actually go somewhere. The kind that make you pause. The kind that open something up.

Developed With a Clinical Psychologist — Here's Why That Matters

Every question in the Self Love Edition was developed in consultation with a clinical psychologist. This wasn't a marketing decision — it was a values one.

We wanted to make sure that the language was appropriate, supportive, and safe. That the questions could go to meaningful places without causing harm. That someone in a tender season of life could pick up this deck and feel held by it, not exposed.

The result is 50 questions that are gentle enough to feel safe, and honest enough to matter.

Inside the Deck: Five Themes, 50 Questions

The Self Love Edition is divided into five genres, each exploring a different dimension of the relationship you have with yourself:

Connectedness — When do you feel most at home in yourself? Who is in your support system, and how do they show up for you?

Awareness — What parts of yourself are you still getting to know? When do you tend to be hardest on yourself?

Needs — Do you have unmet needs you haven't communicated? Which of your needs do you tend to put last?

Perception — What tends to pull you away from yourself? What helps you feel open rather than guarded?

Wild Cards — The questions that go where the others don't.

There are no rules. You can pick a card at random, work through a theme, or sit with a single question for as long as you need. Use it alone, with a partner, or with a friend you trust.

Who This Is For

This deck was made for any woman who has ever felt a little unfamiliar to herself. The new mum navigating a body she doesn't quite recognise. The woman on the other side of nursing, rebuilding her sense of self. The friend who holds everyone else together and never asks herself what she needs.

It's also a gift — one of the most thoughtful you can give. Because it says: I see you. I know you carry a lot. Here's some space, just for you.

This Is the Brand We Want to Be

Hotmilk has always been built on one belief: your body isn't the problem. The bra is. We've spent two decades proving that with every product we make.

The Self Love Edition is an extension of that belief — into the internal experience of womanhood. Because the relationship you have with your body starts in your mind, and the conversations you have with yourself shape everything.

We're proud of this one. We hope it starts something for you.

Please note: this is a conversation and reflection tool and does not replace professional mental health care.

With love, The Hotmilk Team 🤍
