We're making changes to help the environment!

Here at Hotmilk we understand the ever-growing pressures placed on our environment and we do our utmost best to minimize the harmful effects materialism has on our planet and its people.

Keeping the world green

We are putting a lot of pressure on our suppliers to stop packaging our bras in indvidual poly bags. So far we have succesfully acheived this with all garments being shipped to New Zealand, which are then sent to customers in New Zealand and Australia. We are still working through this concept with products that will be shipped to the US and the UK and hope to minimise our plastic use significantly.

We have also recently made a change to send your garments to you in black compostable courier bags made from plant materials. We are slowly phasing out our white plastic courier bags and aim to send all products to New Zealanders and Australians in compostable courier bags by the end of 2019.

Unfortunately Toll still require us to use their plastic Toll courier bags. But don't despair, we will continually put pressure on them to change their ways.

We are passionate about recycling and using products that have minimal impact on the environment. Within our office and warehouse we have a strict recycling policy which includes:

  • All boxes are flat packed and recycled
  • All products are delivered without coat hangers to reduce the amount of plastic consumed within our environment.
  • We make a conservative effort to reduce in house printing and all waste paper is recycled
  • We use Ecostore products for cleaning
  • Energy saving lightbulbs are used where possible.

Selecting the right factory

We are very selective when it comes to choosing our manufacturing partners. There are a variety of different Certification Codes that manufacturing factories can adhere to for Quality, Health & Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility. We choose to use factories who comply with the following certification.

BSCI – certification for safe and improved working conditions in the global supply chain.

SGS - a multinational company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland which provides inspection, verification, testing and certification services.

Testtex - the world leader in electromagnetic non-destructive testing (NDT), who continually define the state-of-the-art for the testing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials and structures.

WRAP – certification for safe, lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing around the world through certification and education.

OEKO - an independent testing and certification system for textile products from all stages of production (fibres, yarns, fabrics, ready-to-use end products, including accessories) along the textile value chain.

Intertek - Worldwide group of testing laboratories who ensure the quality and safety of their products, processes and systems.

Bureau Veritas - a global leader in Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC), delivering high quality services to help clients meet the growing challenges of quality, safety, environmental protection and social responsibility.
